Professional growth requires concerted effort. The primary objection I hear is, “I can’t spare the time.” Certainly there are always time and money pressures; mortgages, business commitments, car payments, kids. But take a good look at what you are doing now:

  • Can you do the same thing until you are 65 or 70 years old? Would you even want to?
  • Do you have time to spend with your family?
  • Time to devote to hobbies?
  • Time to give service to your professional associations, your community, your church?

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, I suggest that you jump off the treadmill you are on and make the time to move up professionally.
