Yup, it’s back to school time for the ol’ Prophet. Only this time I am teaching. You are looking at Monmouth University’s shiniest, newest Adjunct Professor.

Last year my friend (Dr.) Don Moliver, who had recently been promoted to Dean of the Economics Department at MU, asked me if I would teach the Real Estate Appraisal class for the Kislak Real Estate Institute. I agreed, and last fall we taught the class more or less together. Well, Don more and me less. I still had my academic training wheels on.

It has been a real experience, mostly because I have been self employed for the last 13 years and I have never worked for a company with more than 12 employees. The process of becoming an adjunct professor took time, but everyone I dealt with was friendly and helpful. And I got a cool faculty sticker for my car!

Speaking of friendly and helpful, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Peter Reinhart, Director of the Kislak Real Estate Institute, and his right hand lady, Theresa Lowy. They are the best, and the University is lucky to have them.

Last night was my first solo, and I am pleased to say things went well. The class is one of the largest ever offered, and I would like to take credit, but, truth be told, no one knew I was going to be the instructor.

Oh, excuse me, Professor. It is going to be a while before I get used to that one. When one of the students addresses me as “professor”, I look over my shoulder to see who they are talking to.
