Snow day! A cry of joy for children everywhere. Not so with the self employed.
I sit at my home “office” (a thrice recycled desk and chair) stewing about my lot. I can’t be stuck home again. I have too much to do.
With all this time on my hands, I started thinking. What can I control?
I can control my attitude. Enjoy what I can of the day. It’s quiet, peaceful. A good day to make plans, set goals, read, write. Perhaps indulge in a little treat. Three words: pie for breakfast.
While I can’t do everything I need to from home, I can do a lot. I don’t have a paper file with me? It’s o.k., I can work on something else. I may not be able to move the chess pieces I planned to, but I can move some of the other pieces.
What can’t I control? For one, the weather. Other people. I can’t control what work comes through the door. I can’t make someone pay their bill. I can’t make my teenagers less cranky.
I can only do today what I can do today. Tomorrow will have to take care of itself.
And Spring is coming. And there is no such thing as a rain day.
