Wow, a lot of people grouse about New Jersey. Constantly.

It’s too congested. The taxes are too high. Everything is so expensive.

All of these statements are true.

But there is one distinct advantage to living in New Jersey: we are dead center in the Northeast megalopolis. That giant, connected city that runs from Boston to Washington, DC.

Surely the Northeast offers natural beauty: beaches, mountains, forests, farms.

But most importantly, it offers opportunity, connections and, ultimately, wealth.

As Rabbi Daniel Lapin said in his book, Thou Shall Prosper, “Do you want wealth?…If so, locate yourself in the heart of large populations of people who share your values. Then begin making connections.”

With this wealth comes all the blessing of culture: food, education, shopping, entertainment. Wealth established great libraries and universities, supported and nurtured great artists, built great buildings. Made great things.

So the next time you want to knock New Jersey, please take a moment to count your blessings first.
