In a effort to make my drive time more productive I started listening to podcasts. It has worked well, my head stays full of positive thoughts and I have learned a lot. I have had to create ways to safely take notes in the car (more on that sometime soon) but I have a treasure trove of productivity tips, recommended reading and attitude adjusters to share with you:

Beyond the To Do List: This is a Podcast dedicated to improving your personal productivity. The host, Erik Peterson, is a social media professional with a small college in the Midwest. He does a great job of finding and interviewing some top business thinkers and writers.

The Accidental Creative:  The tagline for this Podcast is How to Be Creative at a Moment’s Notice. Hosted by Todd Henry, author of the eponymous book, the podcast explores the world of creativity: how to get it, how to maintain it and how to avoid burnout.

Unofficial Linchpin Podcast: Andy Traub, author of the book The Early To Rise Experience: Learn To Rise Early in 30 Days hosts this podcast that explores the ideas presented in Seth Godin’s book Linchpin, Are You Indispensable?, which I discussed in a recent post. Andy is to be lauded for creating this resource, because Seth Godin only produces a blog and there is no other resource (that I know of) like this in podcast format. Andy also produces a podcast called The Productive Life Show in which he explores the use of Evernote and the role it can play in creativity and productivity.

[Side note: if you search iTunes podcasts for Seth Godin you will find Seth Godin’s Startup School. In this multi-part podcast Seth Godin lectures a group of young entrepreneurs on creating, building, structuring and financing a new business. This is solid gold. Download it today.]

Last but not least is This is Your Life by Michael Hyatt. Michael Hyatt is the bestselling author of the book Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World about successful social media marketing. Hyatt is the real deal, he has been a literary agent, run a multi-million dollar publishing company and now runs several of his own businesses. This podcast covers the gamut from productivity to social media to leadership to creativity. As of the date of this post, Hyatt has produced 53 podcasts. I was so impressed that I downloaded all of them and started with him at the beginning. I am not sure which episode it is in, but Hyatt describes building a publishing company and the mistakes that resulted in the company’s demise. Rarely does one get this level of honesty. Michael, if you read this, thank you.

That time behind the wheel does not have to be wasted. Download these podcasts and grow as you drive.
