I committed to Do One Thing I Have Never Done Before (“DOTIHNDB” for short) every month in 2013. This month I attended my first fashion show. But not just any fashion show mind you, the Cinderella’s Closet Fashion Show.

Cinderella’s Closet http://cinderellasclosetmc.org provides less-fortunate high school students an opportunity to attend their prom in style. Cinderella’s Closet offers gowns, shoes, handbags, shawls, accessories – even makeup – to girls without the means to buy their own, and none of the items are more than two years old. Given the number of families displaced by Superstorm Sandy, the need has never been greater.

The show was a display of the latest and greatest prom dresses and tuxedos. The kids who modeled and the kids in the audience were enthusiastic, friendly and polite. It was a terrific evening.

But for me the biggest part of the evening’s festivities was the Project Runway Challenge, where girls from all over the area designed, sewed and modeled their own dresses. Battling for honors this year was our own Miss Ceara from Red Bank Regional High School:
