I tried out a piece of software. Let’s call it Schmammerly. It looked cool in the television ad. It was supposed to help me write better. It didn’t.

Schmammerly was distracting.

Schmammerly’s interface forces you to scroll through the entire document to find corrections.

Schmammerly can’t distinguish between headings and general text. Headings are buy their nature sentence fragments.

Schmammerly doesn’t understand terms of art.

Schmammerly doesn’t “learn”. You can’t tell Schmammerly never to correct an issue again.

For a piece of ancillary software that adds only marginally to my bottom line, and does essentially what built in software does, Schmammerly is expensive.

A case of over promising and under delivering. A deadly combination in business and in life.
