Wind and solar power are getting more efficient and cheaper all the time. Which is great, as long as the wind blows and the sun shines. The Holy Grail of research in Clean Energy field has been storage. We need bigger, more efficient and cheaper batteries.

Well, this is about to happen.

According to a recent report by the University of Minnesota’s Energy Transition Lab, because the cost of lithium-ion batteries has been plummeting, “Starting in 2019 and for the foreseeable future, the overall cost of building grid-scale storage there will be less than that of building natural-gas plants to meet future energy demand.”
