Too many professionals see continuing education as a burden, a sentence to be served for the privilege of maintaining one’s license or certification. And they whine about it. A lot.

I view continuing education as an opportunity. I choose courses that will add to my skill set, I sit up front and try to learn everything I can. I end up with a new service to sell which makes me attractive to a larger number of potential clients.

As a solo practitioner I always run the risk of getting stale and out of date. The best thing in the world is to spend time with other professionals, both inside and outside of my field. Not only do I gain knowledge about the newest trends and techniques, but I am nurturing a valuable referral list.
