You’re Doing It Wrong

For those of you not familiar with WordPress, there are these things called Plugins. Plugins are little programs that do specific tasks, like creating a contact form or preventing spam comments.

I once used a Plugin that “helped” me write blogs. There were all sorts of rules: at least 300 words, the text of the title had to be repeated in the body text, make sure there are plenty of hyperlinks and images.

I got rid of it.

Pablo Picasso started out as a draftsman, and most of his early work was really quite conventional, like Science and Charity below.

But it was when he decided to be different, to follow his deepest instincts, that he became the most influential artist of the 20th Century.

I don’t expect to become great, or influential.

But I do plan to speak with my own voice.

Pablo Picasso. Science and Charity, 1897
